🥾 DAY 02 – Section 1: Abisko → Abiskojaure
Distance: 15 km • Duration: 4–6 hrs • Ascent: +200 m
On the first day, you hike into Abisko National Park. At the beginning, the trail leads through dense mountain birch forest, but as you continue, the landscape gradually opens up. After a few kilometres, you reach a high limestone rock offering a beautiful view of the Abiskojåkka River. From there, the trail climbs gently before becoming more level. Near the cabin, there is a sandy beach that’s a popular spot for a refreshing swim. You can refill water from streams along the way. The STF Abiskojaure Mountain Cabin also has a well-stocked mountain shop.

🥾 DAY 03 – Section 2: Abiskojaure → Alesjaure
Distance: 21 km • Duration: 6–8 hrs • Ascent: +350 m
Leave the birch forest behind and hike above the tree line with stunning views of shimmering mountain lakes and majestic peaks. After the steep Kieronbacken ascent, the trail levels out across open moorland. Option to shorten the route by 6 km with a scenic boat ride across Lake Alesjaure. A well-stocked mountain shop awaits at the cabin.

🥾 DAY 04 – Section 3: Alesjaure → Tjäktja
Distance: 13 km • Duration: 4–5 hrs • Ascent: +250 m
Hike through a lush river delta where the Alesätno winds across the valley. This is a peaceful day following the river through open Arctic meadows. The trail gradually climbs over open moorland and meadows, with the last kilometres becoming steeper and rockier. This quiet stretch invites a slower pace, where the silence of the high north becomes part of the experience. Water is available from streams along the way. Provision is essential as there is no shop at the Tjäktja cabin, so bring your own food.
🏡 Accommodation: STF Tjäktja Mountain Cabin

⛰ DAY 05 – Section 4: Tjäktja → Sälka → Singi
Distance: 24 km / Duration: 6–9 hrs / Ascent/Descent: +300 m / –450 m
From Tjäktja, climb gradually to Kungsleden’s highest point – the Tjäktja Pass (1,150 m) – with a scenic picnic hut at the top. Descend into the magnificent Tjäktjavagge Valley, where the rocky landscape turns green and lush. Stop for lunch or rest at Sälka, which offers a mountain shop and cozy cabins. Continue through the wide, open valley surrounded by towering peaks and glaciers. The path is mostly gentle, with a few rocky sections before reaching Singi. Water is available along the way. Note: The Singi cabin has no shop – bring your own food.

🏔 DAY 06 – Section 5: Singi → Kebnekaise
Distance: 15 km • Duration: 4–5 hrs • Ascent: +200 m
From Singi, you leave the Kungsleden trail and head into the striking Laddjuvagge Valley. The day begins with a steady climb surrounded by dramatic cliffs and steep mountain walls. As you descend, the valley widens and opens up to breathtaking views — especially of the iconic Tuolpagorni peak. The final stretch leads gently downhill over rocky terrain. Water is available from streams along the way. At the STF Kebnekaise Mountain Station, you’ll find a shop, self-catering options, and a full-service restaurant.

🌲 DAY 07 – Section 6: Kebnekaise → Nikkaluokta → Kiruna
Distance: 19 km • Duration: 5–7 hrs • Descent: –400 m
The trail descends back into the birch forest, alternating between rocky and soft terrain, with wooden footbridges over wet sections. In summer, we take a boat ride across Lake Laddujavri, shortening the hike by 6 km — a scenic crossing surrounded by mountains. By the jetty, there’s a cozy coffee hut and the famous Lap Dånalds serving reindeer burgers. After the boat, it’s an easy 5 km walk to Nikkaluokta village, where a shop and restaurant await. Water is available from streams along the way. From Nikkaluokta, we continue by bus to Kiruna, where we relax and recover after seven days of hiking the Kungsleden.
